What is internet | Types of internet | Advantage and Disadvantages of internet

The word Internet comes from International Network. Internet means an international network or network of networks. Internet is abbreviated as NET and in Bengali Internet. Through the Internet, you can communicate with computers anywhere in the world.

And you can extract the information and bring it to your computer. The Internet is a large network system consisting of numerous networks spanning the globe.

What is the Internet?

The communication of one computer to another computer is called a network. The connection of one or more networks with another network is called the Internet. In a word, the network of networks is called the Internet.

Basically, the Internet is a worldwide network of interconnected computer networks that are open to the public and can exchange data through a system called IP or Internet Protocol. The function of computers connected to the Internet is to share information with each other.

Therefore, all the activities related to the current data sharing are done using the Internet. For example, the Internet was invented as an Internet-based system for exchanging letters. Also, teleconferencing or video conferencing, etc. has come to modernize talking on the telephone with the help of the internet.

Moreover, the main components of the Internet are users, information, communication systems, computers, etc.

What is the full form of the Internet?

The Internet is a short form of an interconnected network.

Who is the father of the Internet?

The contribution of the Internet is truly undeniable.  It is impossible to move about in our daily life without the Internet. So every field online needs internet. The Internet has made our life very dynamic. But do we know who is the father of the Internet? Who has given us a unique gift through their tireless work?

That great person is not one. The names of those two people will be written in golden letters on the pages of history. The names of the two men are Robert E. Kahn and Vinton G. Kerf.  And these two geniuses have discovered these two protocols, Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and the Internet Protocol (IP).

Which made the path of internet discovery easier. Later, new levels of connectivity have made the Internet journey dynamic today.

History of the Internet?

Today's internet is called the backbone of the global village. Because of the Internet, today all the people of the world are connected by a network like an invisible net and are enjoying the advantage of being as close as possible to each other virtually even if they are located physically at any distance.

The Internet is no longer dependent on telephone lines. Rather, the vast capabilities and possibilities of the Internet through undersea optical fiber networks, microwaves, and satellite communications are now almost infinite. At present, the number of Internet users is constantly increasing all over the world including in Bangladesh.

According to Internet World States data, as of December 2017, more than 4 billion people around the world are using the Internet. Which is about 50 percent of the total population of the world. As of January 2018, according to BTRC, the number of internet users in Bangladesh was 80,289 million.

Among them, the number of mobile internet users is the highest at 75,396 million. In 1969, the purpose of developing the internal communication system of the US Department of Defense was through the project called ARPANET (Advance Research Project Agency Network).

ARPANET was later open to various research institutes and universities on a limited basis until the early 1980s. The concept of the first modern Internet was established when TCP/IP (TCO/IP-Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) was invented in 1982 to establish network connections between different computers.

How many types of Internet?

The Internet has made our life much easier. Previously it took days to do the work.  Now you can easily do that work easily at home. You can do the work of foreign clients sitting at home.

You can do various office court work at home. Which has made our life lively and very dynamic. The Internet can be divided into six parts:
  • Dial-up
  • DSI
  • Satellite
  • Cellular
  • Cable
  • Wireless
  • ISDN

Dial-up

The type of Internet connection available from a standard phone line is called dial-up Internet. And in this kind of internet process, the connection is usually connected to the mobile within 10 seconds. Which doesn't seem comfortable to everyone. But pretty good.

DSI

Not everyone is comfortable with slow dial-up speeds. And so DSL came into the market. DSL is basically a cable connection. Which is 100 times faster than dial-up. Which seems acceptable to all.

Satellite

The satellite is the fastest internet connection. Satellite provides fast wireless internet service. Hence satellite connection is the fastest service medium in the world.

Cable

A cable is the means of connecting the internet to a computer or laptop through a broadband line. It is a very popular medium. Nowadays it is quite popular. It is much faster than all other mediums.

Cellular

The internet that is used on mobile phones is called cellular. Cellular connectivity is a very popular medium. Which we all use every day.

Wireless

The exchange of information by connecting two mediums located at a close distance to each other is called a wireless connection.

ISDN

The circuit-switched telephone network system known as ISDN, or "Integrated Service Digital Network," also offers access to packet-switched networks, which carry both voice and data across a digital connection. It offers a packet-switched connection that can transfer data at a rate of 64 kilobits per second.

The quality and speed of an ISDN connection are superior to those of a conventional connection. It offered upstream and downstream bandwidth at a maximum rate of 128 kbit/s.

Internet stuff?

The Internet is essentially a collection of services. Which is known as the Internet component. It contains various ingredients. Some of the most common elements are as follows:
  • Access
  • Telnet
  • Usenet
  • World Wide Web (WWW)
  • Search engine
  • FTP
  • Hosting

  • Email
  • Mailing Lists

What type of network is the Internet?

The Internet is a computer network. Which is connected to all the computers in the world. For the internet to work properly, it needs to be connected to the global network through either wired or wireless means.
